slow progress

Not much has changed since last week. I'm still knitting the orange cardigan, it's taking much longer than I would like and I'm finding it boring, which means I am knitting less and so progress is even slower! I need to just get stuck in and finish it, I think.

Last night I knitted a couple of rows on  this premature baby blanket that I am knitting for Project Linus UK. I also knitted the flower - we decided at WI that the Committee should have some identifying feature at meetings, and settled on a yellow flower. They will be different, as we're making our own and customising them to our own taste. I used a button that belonged to my Auntie Doris for the centre of mine. I inherited her button tin and I love to use her buttons on my craft projects when I can. I might bling the petals up a bit, what do you think?

I've been a slow reader this week too, I'm further into The Secret Keeper, but it's one of those books that goes back and forth in time and has more than one narrator and I am getting a bit confused. I am enjoying it though, when I can get the plot straight in my head and remember who is who.

  1. I've been a very slow reader as well, so you are not alone in the category. Lovely blanket and it will be loved I'm sure!

  2. I love that blanket -- was a sweet knit. And the flower is precious. I inherited my mother-in-law's button box and I know what a treasure that is!

I started The Secret Keeper and gave up, so I'll be anxious to see what you think. I have liked her other books, and I can't figure out why that one didn't grab me.

    1. I should proofread BEFORE I publish ;-)

  3. What a lovely project. How lovely that you have your aunties button tin. I have my mothers and her fair isle knitting still on the needles. I hope to finish it one day so that it can be used as she intended.
How frustrating to have such a complicated read. It's difficult when you have one that you feel you need to draw up a family tree for, let alone one that skips back and forth.
I hope that you get into the plot and love the novel.
    Happy days.

  4. I think the flower is perfect!
That author's books are long and I've had a bit of struggle being able to follow them. I finally caught up and enjoyed the stories.

  5. Cool blanket! Before reading I thought the flower looked like it could have been a nice embellishment on the blanket. It turned out great.

  6. Wow, the blanket is so beautiful! I love the idea of the yellow flower, and it looks lovely. A button tin is a real treasure trove, at least in my book!

  7. I love that button in the centre of your flower, it goes perfectly :) I didn't realize that project linus was so widespread-we have it here too.
